Croatia Workshop Part 2; Beautiful Food+Light+Settings

October 28, 2015

The best part of my Croatia adventure was taking my time with photographing the luscious table settings and the food.  Oh, the food was terrific to eat too!  Vegetarian, for the most part- and that suits my desires just fine.  But, vegetables reign with color and I love to shoot them,  meat just isn't as pretty.  Greens, turqoise, reds, purples- what a lovely rainbow palette to work with.

Meals were always colorful and begging to be photographed.  I loved exchanging ideas with others and asking Eva or Carrie to look through my camera.  They never let me down, always exclaiming with genuine delight over my success with the scene in front of me...

Now that I am reviewing my pictures,  I'm reminded of the small details that make for a wonderful photo.  Genuine expressions can beat out a posed gesture almost anytime... color is like a well placed verb in a poem, unique settings can't hurt either, and light, well, light is the paintbrush to the canvas.

This workshop nourished my heart and eyes as well as my body.  Healthy food, patient instructors, beautiful settings- what else could one ask for?  Thankyou everyone and especially Eva and Carrie, Maggie and Linda and of course Zhanna, who toiled away in the background helping to make sure everything was perfect!

And it was!

Wine Aroma*Therapy
April 24, 2018

Do you wonder where those wine aromas come from? They start their journey as freewheeling organic compounds produced during the wine making process and are released when you swirl your wine in your glass. If you’re lucky, they’ll travel deep into your nasal passages, lodge themselves in your brain and start your sensory experience with wine!!
